Government Commercial Institutes are located at Mannanthala (Thiruvanathapuram), Punalur (Kollam), Alappuzha, Ettumannor (Kottayam), Pala (Kottayam), Kanchiyar (Idukki), Kaloor, Kothamangalam, Pothankkad (Ernakulam), Mala (Thrissur), Palakkad, Kallachi, Koyilandi (Kozhikode), Mancherry (Malappuram), Meenangady (Wayanad), Thalipparamba, Kannapuram (Kannur).

Curriculam
The Programme combines the study of English Shorthand, English Type Writing Higher Grade, Malayalam Short hand, Malayalam Typewriting Lower Grade, English Word Processing Higher Grade, DTP (English and Malayalam), Computerized Financial Accounting, Secretarial Practice, Commerce, Accountancy, English Communication, Computer Applications etc.

The draft rank list will be published on July 5. Complaints can be submitted till July 7. The shortlist will be published on 12th. Lists will be made available on admission portal and institution notice board. Counseling and admission will be conducted from 14th to 21st July. Classes will start on July 26.
Stipend
The annual tuition fee is Rs.725. Scheduled castes are entitled to fee free and stipend. Other categories with annual income below Rs.1 lakh are also eligible for fee waiver.
Application
Apply through June 30 at polyadmission.org/gci/ Those who wish to apply to more than one institute should select the institutes and provide separate options in the application. Application fee is Rs.100. 50 for scheduled castes .
Admissions will be as per the rank list prepared by considering the Grades received in the SSLC/equivalent examination.
Employment opportunities
Those who successfully complete the course can get employment opportunities including Typist, Confidential Assistant, Personal Assistant, Personal Secretary, Stenographer, Clerk Typist, Assistant Instructor, Instructor and Superintendent in GCI in Government, Semi-Government, Public Sector and Private Sectors.
