Saudi Arabia scraps visa stamps for Egypt, six other countries
Under the new changes, applicants from the specified countries will instead use an eVisa with a QR code to enter Saudi Arabia.Saudi Arabia launched a new visa issuance process on Wednesday which eliminates the need for physical visa stickers or stamps for applicants issuing their visas from the kingdom’s diplomatic missions in Egypt and six other countries including the UAE, Jordan, Bangladesh, India, Philippines and Indonesia.
What is the Saudi eVisa?
Saudi Arabia is opening its doors to the world through its new tourist visa. Through the fast and easy-to-use online portal, international visitors from 49 eligible countries can apply for an eVisa and discover the warm hospitality of Saudi people the rich heritage, vibrant culture, and diverse and breathtaking landscapes; from the mountains of Abha to the beaches of the Red Sea to the shifting sands of the Empty Quarter.
The eVisa will be a one-year, multiple entry visa, allowing tourists to spend up to 90 days in the country. The tourist visa allows you to take part in tourism-related activities such as, events, family & relatives visits, leisure, and Umrah (excluding Hajj) and excludes other activities such as studying.
The recent move is part of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ digitalisation strategy for all consular services including work permits, residency, and visit visas.
International applicants from 49 eligible countries can now apply for the new eVisa through the official ministry portal.
The eVisa permits multiple entries and is valid for one year, allowing visitors to engage in tourism-related activities, including attending leisure events, visiting family and relatives, and performing Umrah for a duration of up to 90 days. However, the eVisa does not cover Hajj, studying, among other activities.
